TOWN HALL STEPS

Coming from Liverpool, come out of the new tunnel(kingsway) and take the first exit marked for Birkenhead and at the roundabout take a right under the motorway and onto Gorsey lane.At the end turn right onto Poulton road and follow this for nearly a mile, bear left onto liscard road then right onto Brougham rd.Turn left onto Brighton rd, on your right you should see the town hall, park around here and walk down to the promenade.

people used to park on the prom itself but following complaints there has been police action to move/fine people

This is a very popular mark on the mersey due to ease of access that was afforded but now the police are taking a firmer hand then time will tell

Since the building of the groynes the flow has reduced so you can fish tides higher than many other marks on the mersey.

It is possible to fish this amrk at low water on the sand bank that is left exposed, but care is needed as the gully behind you can fill up very quickly.

Small whiting and dab make up catches early on in the year till the end of march when codling will occasionally show.

Usual baits with crab scoring during the summer and mackerel best for the whiting when they show in the autumn .Smelly old lug is favored by the dabs and lug/squid combo's for the codling.

Because you are fishing from a comfortable promenade with rails along it is ideal for the lass sprightly of us,the disabled or with those wanting to bring children for those high tides.
