When you start of sea fishing the vast array of rigs that people use can be daunting and confusing, many will end up buying ready prepared rigs from their local tackle shop, whilst they are all very well made they can be quite expensive, especially if you fish snaggy ground and lose a few.

On the left are some of the rigs i use, please feel free to copy them, i like to use quality line/hooks/clips and swivels when i tie my rigs, i think it is very important to have the confidence that your rigs will not let you down at a crucial moment. tying your own rigs also allows you to tailor them to your needs, such as changing hook sizes and strength of lines.

Adding a second hook on to the snood is called a pennel rig, this allows you to have a hook at the top and the bottom of your bait, it can be quite easily incorporated into most rigs.

I have been trying out adding a starlight onto some of my rigs when fishing in the dark, this has brought some good results to be just a co-incidence, simply thread the plastic tube that comes with starlights onto the snood before tying on the hook(s), it is a simple job to attatch the light into the tube.

Practice your knots and make sure that you use lots of saliva to act as a lubricant when tying them, this prevents burning the line and thus weakening it.

More rigs are planned for this section, if you have a favorite that you want including please email me and il add it on.
