Perch rock is the name of the fort in New Brighton at the mouth of the mersey on a large sandbank. It is a very popular low water mark that produces throughout the majority of the year. You can mainly expect to catch whiting and dabs throughout the year, but it can throw up thornback ray, smoothhound, dogfish, codling, plaice, flounders and eels. Best bait here is mackeral, lug and rag, but sandeel will throw up the rays and crab will take the smoothhound. |
